An ethereal book that will bring sweet dreams ...
From the creators of the 5-Star hit, The Truly Great Noodle, we have another lovely app from Grids Interactive. This one is very different, though. It is an ethereal title about a fairy that surfs in the night sea, looking out for danger while children sleep and sea life frolic. Told in well-crafted rhymes with very light animation but no other enhancements, this is a perfect title for bringing sweet dreams after pajama storytime.
This title is solidly made and has nice settings that even allow you to record your own narration. The narration that comes with the book is nice, although a bit soft, making it difficult to hear in a noisy environment. Sound effects in the background (of ocean waves & seagulls) nicely enhance this beautifully illustrated app. The lack of interactivity makes this an ideal bedtime title, although it might be nice to add highlighting to go along with the narration, which could use a little volume boost.
Otherwise, this is a great little storybook in digital form. Surf Angel is perfectly enhanced for the storyline, with ample settings and a polished presentation. It is a favorite at bedtime in our house and provides a sense of comfort and security to children, especially those who live near the sea.
Note: All Grids Interactive titles are partnered with a charitable organization that receives a portion of the net proceeds from every download.
